  1. Beautifully documented all steps. Very useful page.
You can also comment that – when unzipping both zip files, we need to use extract here. otherwise, some people extract both the zip files different folders, in which case installation will fail.

  2. Getting an error after 3rd step( skiping software updates and clicking next). Following error occurs:
[INS-30131] Initial setup required for the execution of installer validations failed.
Pls help. I ts really urgent for me

  5. I am working on a windows 7 os. However ther was no issues while installing the oracle 12c database in the machine but after the installation is done finding great difficulties in the odbc connection as i am not so sure as how to do a odbc connection, i know there is a connection with tnsnames.ora file with the odbc connectivity.what needs to be written under the field “TNS Service Name”, and as I keep changing this name even the error message which i get during the test connection also varies. At time we will get as follows:.
1.”unable to connect sqlstate=08004 [oracle][odbc][ora]ora-12154:tns:could not resolve the connect identifier specified”
    OR
“2.unable to connect sqlstate=08004 [oracle][odbc][ora]ora-01033:oracle initialization or shutdown in progress process ID:0 Session ID:0 Serial Number:0”
Also is there a way to set a userid and password for a database which i can enter during the test connection?
Please do try to help .

    • Can you check the host name under the host file on your windows ? Make the machine name not the IP. Keep the machine name on the TNS file and listener file. Restart the services. Next steps check the listener status and try to ping TNS and check if you are able to do it .
